High Country Guide Service is a locally owned and operated fly fishing and hiking outfitter based in Boone, North Carolina, serving the High Country region and beyond. Founded in 2011, we specialize in guided wade and float fly fishing trips on the wild trout streams of Western North Carolina and the tailwaters of East Tennessee, including the South Holston and Watauga Rivers. We also offer fly-in fly fishing adventures in Alaska.
Our experienced, licensed, and insured guides are CPR certified and provide professionally guided hiking tours, overnight fishing and camping trips, beginner fly fishing clinics, and eco-immersion creek walks. Whether you are new to the outdoors or a seasoned angler, every trip is tailored to your goals, skill level, and sense of adventure.
Rooted in the High Country, we raise our families here and remain deeply connected to the rivers, trails, and wild places we guide. With thousands of trips completed locally and more than 1,000 anglers hosted in our Alaska program, our approach is built on consistency, professionalism, and a genuine passion for sharing the outdoors with others.
