The watersheds in the Boone area are all experiencing the Fall transition right now. The days are getting shorter and the native trout are starting to stock up on protein for the Winter. Also, the Delayed Harvest sections of the Watauga River in Valle Crucis and 321 area as well as Coffey Lake in Watauga County all received a fresh stocking from the state last week.
While this section of the Watauga is most known for lots of pressure, going on a guided trip during the week has its advantages! Our guides know how to employ Tailwater tactics (the same magic we use on the Watauga and South Holston Tailwater Rivers) and get these pressured fish to play!
Using Caddis emergers this time of year along with some high Country midges can produce all day!
